WedLuxe, a Canadian Great

Recently in my wedding blog browsing, I came across a great blog WedLuxe. This blog is written by the editor in chief of WedLuxe, a high end Canadian wedding magazine. The blog is extremely well written and has some of the best inspiration boards, fashion entrees, and everything else wedding, on the web. I thought I would share a couple of their boards I really like. Enjoy...

Comments on the Blog

Hi all, I hope everyone had a wonderful turkey filled day yesterday!

So I wanted to address a little problem a few people have brought to my attention. I have had quite a few people tell me they could not post a comment on my blog. So I looked into it and I hope it is fixed now. When you want to make a comment, just click on the comment button at the end of the post. A box will pop up for you to write in your note, and then right below it asks how you want to post the comment.
Basically this is just asking what search engine you use, if you do not see something familiar in the drop down box, then just click on anonymous. The last step is to type in the funny words you see in the bottom box and click post. I promise it is super simple. And please do leave comments, I simply love to get feed back, and would to love hear more from you and what you would like to see more of on the blog. And don't forget to sign it, so i know who sent it to me!!

Have a fantastic weekend, and let me just leave you with this great and yummy picture!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Tomorrow is my mother's Birthday, and traditionally I have always given her a coconut cake. Now, my mom has a bit of a problem and that is she does not share the cake with anyone, but eats the whole thing herself. Unfortunately my favorite chef/baker moved away recently so mom is not going to get her cake, so in honor of my mom here are some great pictures of coconut cupcakes!

For everyone else have a very wonderful and Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Best of the Valley

For most of you who know me, know that I am not one for tooting my own horn, but this was a pretty big thing. I was very lucky, and the people of Ketchum and Sun Valley voted me the Valley's Best Wedding Planner. So for all of those people who voted, I thank you very much. This is very much an honor!

My First Wedding

Last night I was going through some old pictures and I found this photo. It was taken about 29 years ago at my parents friends, Mike and Jana's wedding. I was very excited to be the flower girl. Looking back I'm not so excited about that hair cut my mom had given me. A bowl cut, really mom?

Have a great weekend!!!!

Cupcakes and Champagne

Two very good friends of mine have moved into new offices in Bellevue, Idaho, and they are having an open house tonight. I have featured both Michelle and her stationary as well as Kirsten and her photography on my blog many times. Below is their invitation to their open house. Please if you have a moment, stop by and if you can't make it check out their web sites! They are both wonderful talented people who I admire so much.

Real Wedding: Merrill and Ryan

Ryan and Merrill might be two of my most favorite people ever. I first met Merrill when I did the flowers for her sister's wedding in 2006, and then I was lucky enough to be their wedding planner and florist for her and Ryan's wedding in 2008. When you first meet this couple you just can't help but love them. Merrill had an infectious laugh that is usually followed up by a cute snort and Ryan is just an all around great guy. These guys got married at the end of September last year, normally a very safe time weather wise, however for this wedding we weren't so fortunate. Sun Valley had gone something like 53 days with out rain, but on the day of their wedding it decide to monsoon. I have never seen weather like that up here ever. There was not only crazy amounts of rain, but huge hail, thunder and lightning. But through it all Ryan and Merrill were troopers and the wedding turned out to be stunning.

We were so lucky, right before the ceremony started the sun decided to come out, and the umbrellas were all put away. The bridesmaids wore silver and carried mounds of white roses, and Merrill wore a stunning dress that couldn't have fit her personality better. And Ryan and the groomsmen looked handsome in their dark suits.

The inside of the tent was sparkly and magical. We hung 200 votives from the ceiling of the tent and the tables were set with tons of votives and floating candles. In addition to the candles we had mounds of white roses in julep cups and floated gardenias in clear globes. We made sure we had plenty of heaters to drive the cold and rain back out the door.

After dinner the tent was filled with music from the Freddy Pink Band. A great group out of Seattle. The guests danced the night away and had a great time. Even though the rain in the beginning of the day was not fun, in the end everything turned out to be the perfect wedding. I am so lucky Ryan and Merrill allowed me to be a part of their big day!

Inspiration Board # 3: Black and White Wedding

click on image to make larger

Since the weather is changing and winter in upon us, I wanted to do an inspiration board that reminded people of a winter wedding, but was more elegant with the black, white, and silver, then with a traditional Christmas wedding. I hope this helps inspire you!

I Love Jeff Leatham!

I can't tell you how excited I am that Jeff Leatham has a show on TLC. Leatham, hands down, is my favorite florist of all time. He has spent many years working for the Four Seasons Hotels, mainly at the George V in Paris. Now he has traveled to New York to settle down and film Flowers Uncut, on TLC. I have watched the first two episodes and all I can think of is how I would give just about anything to work with him. He style is very clean and simple, yet amazingly stunning all at the same time. What can I say, he is my flower hero. Here are just a few photos of his work.....

Real Wedding: Tessa and Todd

Let me start off by saying Happy Anniversary Tessa and Todd! These guys were married here in Sun Valley two years ago this November. They had a small, intimate wedding at Todd's parents house on the golf course. The ceremony was small with just family and very close friends.

For the reception, Tessa and Todd, were very clear that they wanted to serve amazing food. The the caterer, Karina from H & G Reserve, did just that. The menu was multi-course; everything from ahi tuna to duck, and Karina set the table with her signature hand-made flat breads.

The dinner took place in the living room in front of a roaring fire. We set two wide rectangle tables to to make room for the multiple courses and all of the wine pairings. Tessa let me pretty much have free range with the flowers, and since we weren't outside and there was no wind in the room, obviously, I thought going with super tall arrangements would be the most fun. The arrangements included light blue hydrangea, orchids, magnolia, and eucalyptus.

The entire evening was just perfect with love, family, and great food and wine. I am so lucky to still see Tessa and Todd when they come to town to visit. Happy Anniversary!!

Happy Weekend!!

If only we all looked this
glamorous all the time......

It Happened in Sun Valley....

I came across these vintage posters and thought they would make great Save-the-Date announcements. Now if I could only find them in postcard size.....

Coolest Window Ever!

In my recent web browsing I came across some pictures of a store window in Vancouver BC. When I first saw these cakes I was amazed that someone would go to the trouble to make all those cakes for just a window display. But as I read the caption and looked closer I found that they are all made of paper. Pretty much think that is the coolest thing ever!

Real Wedding: Kelly and Conor

This summer I was exceptionally lucky to plan the wedding of two people I have known pretty much my entire life, Kelly and Conor. Kelly might be one of the easiest brides I have every worked with. She pretty much just wanted everything to look really clean and pretty and to make sure everything ran smoothly. I am pretty sure we accomplished that. So here are photos from the big day.

So I just had to put these photos in of the boys. Again I have known them all my entire life and these pictures capture them perfectly. These might be my favorite groomsmen pictures of all time.

The wedding and the reception were held north of Ketchum at Galena Lodge. This is the ultimate mountain wedding location. The ceremony takes place in a beautiful prairie, right underneath the Boulder White Cloud mountains, and then the reception takes place at Galena Lodge. The Lodge is a classic wedding location, in fact my parents were married there too over 30 years ago.

Thank you Kelly and Conor for allowing me to be a part of your big day!
